Dreadrock, whose legal name is James Samuels, grew up on the hard city streets of Chicago westside. Overcoming life on the streets contributed to his love for music, bringing the trials and tribulations from his life to paper and stage. On April 22, 2019, he founded the record label Swervnation to support his career and to help rappers like himself to have a voice and an outlet through a musical career.
